It was the afternoon. Shio was walking home from school alone, thinking about ways to become a stronger Burst Linker than Jyro. Shio was getting annoyed by the fact that he isn't the best in his own game anymore. He has fought against other Burst Linkers countless times, winning a lot, but losing an equal amount of times. Every time he gets close to 500 BP, he tries to rush fights and goes on a losing streak. He kicks against a pebble, looking at other people, mostly younger or smaller children, with a cold look on his face. Giving them an uneasy feeling which at the same time amuses Shio. When he's about 100 meters away from his home, he suddenly and rather randomly accelerates. "An acceleration, how is that possible? I'm not even connected to any network." He says in his mind.
He appears in the "Arena" stage. The words "A new challenger has appeared" pop up in the air and the 2 health bars appear.
'Mantis Roach VS M - R'
"M - R? What kind of name is that?"
Roach looks around, trying to spot the opponent. He hears a sound behind him and turns around.
"...!"
He then sees a copy of his own avatar standing before him.
"What is this nonsense? Some kind of illusion skill?"
Roach draws his sword and takes defensive a stance. M - R does the exact same. Roach looks carefully at M - R to make sure that he can react as fast as he can once M - R makes a move. For about 5 seconds nothing happens, both players are just standing there in a defensive position.
"Hey! Why aren't you doing any-"
Before Roach could finish his sentence, M - R had leaped forward and stabbed him in the chest.
"Grr... You bastard! Not even gonna let me finish my damned sentence!?"
Roach made an attempt to stab M - R in the chest but, his sword got deflected by M - R's arm. stepped back and kicked M - R away, which made M - R's sword leave Roach's chest.
"What's up with you anyway? Why aren't you talking!?"
M - R didn't respond. And just leaped forward again, attempting to stab Roach again the same way. Roach sidestepped and avoided the attack. Placing himself behind M - R. He grabbed M - R by the shoulder from behind and used Piercer Assault. M - R looked back over his shoulder and elbowed Roach gently in the stomach, making his attack fail.
In Shio/Roach's mind:"What was that? It was as if he knew Piercer Assault's weak point."
M - R turned around and kicked Roach to the ground. He put his foot on Roach's chest, making Roach unable to get up. M - R pulled his arm back and then unleashed an inescapable Piercer Assault on Roach.
"Gaaah! ...how? Pie- Ugh, Piercer Assault is my move!"
Roach was in a hard position. He couldn't move away and was being forced to watch his HP bar go down at a painfully fast speed. His sight began to become blurry do to the pain of the Piercer Assault, but after 10 seconds he gathered the strength to push his sword arm forward and stab M - R in the leg, making his attack fail. M - R pulled his leg back, which gave Roach the chance to stand up and quickly cut of M - R's foot. Roach wasn't perfectly stable due to the pain which he could still feel from a few seconds ago. M - R feel to the ground and Roach slowly but cautiously walked towards the M - R laying with his face down on the ground. Roach quickly kicked M - R's sword away and stabbed him in the head, making M - R's HP go down to the point where one more stab would let it hit 0 HP.
"It was fun to have fought you, but the original always wins!"
When Roach finished his sentence, M - R grabbed Roach's leg and pulled him on the ground. M - R crawled towards Roach's arm and grabbed his sword out of his hand. Roach rolled away and dove at M - R's sword. M - R, using the sword to stand up, waited for Roach to come closer while his arm began to glow green like if he was about to use a Piercer Assault with his arm.
Roach lifted his sword up and held it behind him, he turned it around and took it in his hand as a javelin.
"I might be a close ranged fight..."
He threw his sword at M - R as a javelin. He dove at the ground but still got hit by the sword.
"...,but that doesn't mean that you're safe at a distance! Hehe."
The hit of the thrown sword was enough to let M - R's HP hit 0.
Shio won the battle and returned to his normal body.
